In the new sci-fi film Black Panther, leading lady Lupita Nyong’o once again graces the screen in a starring role. This time around, the 34-year-old actress plays the daring and beautiful Nakia, an undercover spy with (quite literally!) deadly fashion sense. Along with keeping evil at bay as a member of a Special Forces group, Nakia is also dressed to kill in all of her scenes. We are coveting her futuristic, tribal inspired outfits, which are suitable for a superhero film set in a fictional African country known as Wakanda. Just in time for the movie’s official release today, here’s a closer look at Nyong’o’s on-screen Black Panther style.
Gorgeous in gold: The star looks radiant in this textured, gold-coloured frock, which features a round neckline and sleeveless silhouette. The metallic fabric stands out against her glowing ebony complexion, and helps to bring her flawless complexion to life. Her character Nakia styles this golden dress with a matching gold statement necklace and tiny stud earrings that are a flattering accessory choice.
Stylish in a knit wrap scarf: Even a femme fatale like Nyong’o’s Nakia needs to occasionally wrap up in comfort, particularly while undertaking a challenging mission. In this scene, the beauty is bundled up in a green, brown and blue knit scarf. The oversized wrap style adds an extra layer over her neutral beige outfit, and keeps her cropped curls protected as well.
Stepping out in eveningwear: Part of Nakia’s charm is her ability to transition from warrior to bombshell, and this look is certainly no exception. Nyong’o stuns here, on the arm of co-star Chadwick Boseman (who plays the Black Panther, otherwise called T’Challa). Her tribal printed halter gown features two thigh-high side slits and an abstract yellow pattern. Meanwhile, cold shoulder accents and fitted long sleeves keep her floor-length dress looking versatile and contemporary.
